Prescription Refills: GoodRx
Recently, someone submitted a question asking: What are the possible ways I can refill my prescription? A 3-month supply. Thank you so much! (Thank you for the question!).
In this blog post, I will be describing one possible way to get prescriptions quick and at a low cost with the use of coupons from GoodRx. Next week’s post will be dedicated to another similar company that provides low-cost prescription services!
GoodRx is a company that provides a multitude of medical services, which includes pets, at a lower cost and an up to 90% decrease in the cost of most prescription medicines. This extends to refills as well, though only short-term.
Below I have described how GoodRx works pertaining to cost, insurance, refills, visits, and short-term medications/refills.

As always, make sure that this is the right fit for you! Everyone’s healthcare experiences will be different, and what works for someone else may not work for you (and vice versa)!

Visits start at $49, or there is a gold membership with a 30-day free-trial. With the membership, visits start at $19.
If your pharmacy does not accept the membership, they move it to a pharmacy that does.
Individual plans start at $9.99 and family plans start at $19.99 (Up to 5 people/pets).
Under a gold membership, you can get up to 90% off prescriptions, free home delivery, and more affordable healthcare provider visits (online).
There is also an available app to make services easier!
They also provide pet health services, and your pets can be included in a family plan!
Insurance
On combining Gold Rx with insurance, “While you can’t combine GoodRx Gold with insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid, it often makes sense to use GoodRx Gold instead. Gold prices for online visits and prescriptions are so low they may beat insurance copays — especially if you have a high deductible. Plus, there are no forms, caps, or limited lists of covered drugs, like with some insurance plans.” More information can be found here. Keep in mind, GoodRx is not insurance.
Can I use GoodRx with some insurances?
Yes, but be sure to check with your medical provider. Sometimes it is cheaper to pay through GoodRx than using your own insurance!
How can I get a refill?
Answer questionnaires about your symptoms and conditions, get connected with a provider to make a visit, pick up your medication (as soon as today!)
When going to pick up your medication, you show a coupon to the pharmacist who can provide the discount.
